Region 3 will again be the host of the 18th Special Events Rally in Galax, Virginia for the 84th Old Fiddler’s Convention August 4-10-2019.
The Fiddler’s Convention is six days of continuous entertainment while the rally will have special concerts by Wayne Henderson and Friends, the Junior Appalachian Musicians, and other great musicians as well as a tour of Wayne’s shop and his extraordinary museum, A breakfast, lunch, dinner, and melon “cutting” included. Rally fee is $55 per person, $20 children 12-16.
Special highlights this year will again be the concerts presented at the campground by friends of Robert Sells, owner of the Cool Breeze Campground and by friends of Betty and Junior Patton. Among these will be Carson Peters, an 15 year-old prodigy fiddle player. Carson has been on the Jay Leno show and has performed at the Grand Ol’ Opry several times. You have to see and hear him to believe he is only fifteen years old.
The rally campsites will be at the Cool Breeze Campground that has three point hookups, 30 and 50-amp service, cable TV, and wireless Internet for $38 per night tax included. The website address is: http://coolbreezecampground.com and phone number is (276) 236–0300.
There is no sign-up coupon or check to send, just call the campground to reserve your campsite and spot in the rally. Pay the rally and camping fees on your arrival. Note: entrance fee to the Fiddlers Convention is not included in the rally fee.
